Master Gardener Clive supports new growers on a community allotment in the centre of Norwich. He witnessed a very special moment on a sunny late July lunchtime at the allotment.
A man who had suffered a severe stroke was able, for the first time since being confined to a wheelchair, to walk to the apple tree, pick a Beauty of Bath (desert apple) and eat it.
His raised bed allotment, accessible to wheelchair users, has been a focal point for him to leave his home each day over the last 9 months.
